¡Hola a todos! Hoy la protagonista del post es la silla Thonet. Seguro que muchos la reconocéis, es la silla más famosa realizada por la compañía Thonet. También conocida como silla n.14, fue diseñada por Michael Thonet en 1859. El por qué del que también sea conocida como silla n.º 14 viene a partir del primer catálogo de muebles en el que el objeto apareció. En él, el número que le correspondía a la silla Thonet era el 14. Su precio asequible y diseño sencalló la convirtió en uno de los modelos de sillas más vendidos de la historia. Entre 1860 y 1930 se vendieron unos 50 millones de sillas y varios millones más se han vendido hasta la actualidad.
La silla Thonet está fabricada con seis piezas de madera curvada al vapor, diez tornillos y dos tuercas. Las partes de madera fueron hechas con listones de madera de haya calentados a 100 °C, prensadas en moldes de hierro fundido y dejándolas secar a una temperatura de 70 °C durante 20 horas. En cuanto a sus posibilidades, como podéis ver son infinitas.
