Bunny criticando “Arte”

Bunny checking out the “art”

In my opinion one of the most challenging parts of decoration a house /apartment are the walls.

In our apartment I went safe at the entrance and hang a beautiful mirror, but I felt that automatically it took away the opportunity to use mirrors in the Dinning-Living room.

I decided to give my artist side a chance and started with the idea of painting some Hydrangeas but let’s be honest, I am not any Picasso and even Bunny ( you guess it’s our pet rabbit) was looking at my painting with what I can only interpreted as a Facepalm face.

So after months of trying to find something to hang on the wall I founded this great blog where I could download botanical prints. (plus in pinterest it all looks so nice and easy, that why not?!)

I chose this ones. Keep in mind that if you like are changing the decoration at home often (like I do when a season starts) it’s better to use prints that are more of a neutral color. Like this you can combine them with any stlyle you have and it will a little more chic. If like me you are using a regular printer it is possible that the quality of the image it’s not the best used some color pencils and extra colored them. I think they look really good. What do you think?

I chose this neutral color designs so they would combine better
I went then to a local shop to buy some frames, but I never found nor the design, or the color I was looking for, so I decided to buy this natural color frames and make them a small makeover to solve my “wall problem”.

this ones are of 20 X 30 cm
  Here are some thoughs..

Before you start to paint, make sure you  have use sand paper all over the frames, any trace of varnish will prevent the paint to stick to the surface and the result will be full with patches. Not nice!

If you buy natural color frames you will need less paint layers, so do not exaggerate with it or it will take forever to dry and life is too short!

Add a layer of  varnish to embellish, once the paint has dry and remember that sometimes it’s not completely translucent. I use acrilic white paint for the frames and after the  applied the varnish the tone changed to cream.
