Hello Autumn!

Bienvenido el otoño!

Scroll down for the english version!

fall12

fall1

Me encanta cocinar y comer!

It’s September and we are approaching the start of the Fall, although we can say that this last three months have been so rainy in south Germany, that technically we have been already there the entire time!

Usually, we are in the denial stage in which we can’t let the summer go, the beer garden still open but with blankets outside, starts the season to take out the raincoat and why not even wearing sunglasses and umbrella at once.

The days start to get shorter and the bright colors of the summer fade away in the early night.

Meanwhile I feel my home needs also slowly to get into that fall mood, so came up with some ideas I’d  to share with you today!

Join me as we say hello Autumn!

1.  Moss & Wood Candle Center Piece

fall1

I love cooking and eating so it is just normal that the dinning area comes to be one of the most important parts in our apartment ( in the reality our apartment is also not so big either!) but I love to set up the table and have people over for dinner!

In the summer months I like to have a bowl full of fresh fruit, but with the fall arriving it is not no easy to get them anymore therefore, I came up with a beautiful center piece made with candles to decorate.

First things first!

We will need a wood plate, I got this one at n*nu n*na for 4,50

Candles, which got at the same store

Artificial Moss I found it at Dep** for 1,50

String 1.99 **

2 Glass vases 1.99 ** each

Tree bark 5.00 at Dep**

How to do it

I put two candles inside the vases, placing one on each corner of the plate.

fall4

In the middle I set the third candle and tighted a wool string to it. Just to decorate it a little bit. Then I spread the bark on the plate putting special care in covering the base of each candle.

fall3

Later, I gently organized the moss above the bark and around the candles. It really depends how much you would like to cover with the moss, I decided I wanted to leave some uncover parts, but it is up to you!

fall2

What I love about this centerpiece that it is so simple and what a great smell it bring into the house! You can use the wood plate and the vases for further projects.

If you don’t want to use artificial moss or  bark the nature offers us countless options, like for exple some pinecones or even cinnamon!

Let me know how it turns out, you can leave your picture in the coment section!

And now..

2. Pumpkin Cream Soup

crema-de-calabaza2

My grandma D. is a woman from which I have learned so much and I feel very bless to have her in my life, even if it is in the distance. This pumpkin cream soup, is one the recipes I love the most from her and I am sure that when you taste it, you will love it too!

Ingredients

4 portions

1 Pumpkin ( I used a small one).

1 Tomato.

1 Large onion.

Salt, pepper and cumin.

1 Cup of water.

Preparation

Cut the pumpkin in pieces and get rid of the seeds.

calabaza2

In a hot pan with little oil, let the chopped onion fry until it is softer, add then the tomato, salt, pepper and the cumin, mix it and let it cook for a couple of minutes.

fall9

Apart in a cooking pot, boil a cup of water and add the pumpkin pieces.

We will know that are ready when their texture is similar to a cooked potato.

When this happen, take the cooking pot away from the fire and pour the water into a recipient without discarding it.

Peel off the pumpking pieces.

fall7

Blend the pumpkin with the stew that we had previously prepared and add a splash of the water that we had kept .We can decide by adding more or less water how thick we want our cream soup.

My uncle’s W Cooking tipp:

The pumpkin skin adds a stronger spicy taste to the cream soup, if you like more intense flavors blend the pieces without peeling them before!

fall-10

Add salt and pepper if needed. Serve with croutons or bread!

Enjoy!

crema-de-calabaza1

Thank you so much for joining me today! I hope to see you again next week!

Warm regards,

Lina
